FLVS Proof of Residency Requirements

FLVS is required to confirm Florida residency for every student enrolled in an FLVS course. FLVS only requires that you provide proof of residency once, but they reserve the right to request updated documentation at any time. (You must also provide proof of residency to us.) Students new to FLVS will need to have approved proof of residency on file before they can be assigned to a classroom. (They no longer have a 30-day window from the time the course is verified in which to submit proof of residency.) All documents must be in the name of the parent or legal guardian listed on the student's account and include the current home address associated with the student’s account. The address listed on the student's account must be a residential address and not a post office box or commercial address. Please read their FAQs for more information.

Acceptable Documentation

FLVS requires one of the following documents:

  • Current parent/guardian Florida driver license or Florida identification card (must be active and not expired)
  • Utility bill (gas, water, sewage, electric, cable/internet, or home/cellular telephone bill) dated within 60 days from course registration
  • Florida vehicle registration dated within 12 months from course registration date
  • Property appraiser tax statement for the most recent year
  • Mortgage statement dated within 60 days of course registration date
  • Homeowner's insurance statement dated within 12 months from course registration date
  • Automobile insurance statement dated within 6 months from course registration date
  • Lease agreement with signatures, name of lessee, and contact information

Military Families

If you are a military family currently residing outside of Florida, note that you will need to use your Florida address for registration. If you do not maintain a physical address, but you have proof of residency, you can use your VIC address. You will need to upload the following:

  • Military orders and
  • DD Form 2058, State of Legal Residency Certificate or DFAS Form 702, Defense Finance and Accounting Service Leave and Earning Statement

Uploading Your Document(s)

Please follow the steps below to upload your document(s):

  • Log into Virtual School Administrator (VSA)
  • Click on the menu bar at the top left-hand side of the page
  • Select Student Records
  • Select My Documents
  • Choose your file(s) to upload
  • Enter a title (such as "Proof of Residency")
  • Select Proof of Residency as the document type.
  • Include a comment (such as the type of document being uploaded)
  • Select Save
